Toyo Tires John Ross WinToyo Tires® Proxes™ Drag Slicks in the Winner’s Circle…Again

August 25, 2006 -- John Ross, racing his ’63 Corvette in the Southern California Pro Gas Association (SCPGA) at the California Speedway in Fontana, pulled off a win during Round 6 using Toyo’s new Proxes™ Drag Slicks. Ross picked up the win on Saturday. On Sunday he advanced to the quarter finals, the 850 hp Corvette making a perfect 9.900 pass on a 9.90 index, followed by three back-to-back 9.901s.

Sixty foot times are critical with the 9.90 index used in SCPGA, and this is where tires can make the difference. According to Ross, “My 60-foot times with the Toyos were so consistent, they only varied by a couple thousandths of a second.  Whether in hot or cold conditions, these tires produce the same result.” Running on 33 x 17-15 Toyo Proxes™ Drag Slicks, the win elevates Ross in the SCPGA charts as he focuses on the remaining events in 2006.

According to Stan Chen, Manager of Events and Motorsports, Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation, “The remarkable performances that racers are experiencing with the new Proxes Drag Slicks just confirms the years of development Toyo engineers invested in making these the best tires possible for all racers. We are pumped to see the new Proxes Drag Slicks scoring wins.”

During 2006, Toyo Tire (U.S.A.) Corporation celebrates its 40th Anniversary. Toyo manufactures and distributes a complete line of high performance and original equipment replacement tires for passenger car, light truck, commercial truck, bus, off-road and construction applications.
